Answers

  1. Why do I need to bring my ID to use the Rec Center?

A valid BlasterCard helps identify Student Recreation Center members. Presenting your ID expedites your check-in process and allows you to check-out equipment during your visit.
  2. How do I check-out equipment?

Present your BlasterCard to the Staff Member at "Gear Up" to checkout/in equipment.
  3. Why do you have to shower before entering the pool?

Colorado Health Department regulations require that all patrons shower before entering the pool. This helps to ensure proper water quality for the safety and enjoyment of our patrons. It is the single most important factor in maintaining a clean, healthy pool.
  4. How many laps on the track make a mile?

Sixteen laps around the track from the middle lane is a mile.
  5. May I bring a guest?

Members may bring up to two guests per day. The cost is $5.00 per guest and they must be signed in at the Control Desk.
  6. Do I have to be a member to take classes? Is there a cost for the classes?

All classes, trips, seminars or tournaments are open only to members. Most classes have an associated fee. Check each area for details.
  7. Is there any way for me to get a membership if I'm not connected to Colorado School of Mines in any way?

Due to the limitations of our facilities and our mission to serve the students of Mines, memberships are only available to individuals holding a valid BlasterCard and alumni of CSM. All other individuals are eligible to pay a daily use fee when sponsored by a member in good standing.
  8. I'm a CSM faculty member and I'd just like to use the facility for the day. Is that possible?

Yes! If you have a current BlasterCard you can pay the daily admission fee and have access to all facilities.
